RingRing

A theatrical concert with live animated projections based on Wagner

RING-RING met accordeon, percussie en live elektronica

2021 – 45 min. – no language – all ages

The adventure of RingRing. A lost bicycle bell searches for his bicycle along fairytale but also dangerous places full of strange creatures and unexpected encounters. A touching adventure full of cheerful but also tricky moments. Whether his search is rewarded remains exciting until the end.

Lichtbende has playfully based RingRing on Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. But now in its own unique way, full of eye-catching visual and musical discoveries. Leitmotifs from the opera become as strange and surprising as the images in this story.

With RingRing, Lichtbende has entered into a special collaboration with Hermark Classical Suzhou and the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center. RingRing is made in such a way that it can be performed in China by the Shanhai Hapi Puppet Theatre. A daring international collaboration.

Reviews

2026 – Javier López Piñón

Lichtbende, Amsterdamse Tramharmonie.

With music and projections, an unparalleled surreal cosmos is evoked here within which the story unfolds. Various musical highlights pass by, such as one of the most beautiful abstract Rides of the Valkyries ever depicted.

Perhaps this is proof of the great strength of this unique company: the power to teach the audience not to think that theater should primarily be about understanding, whereas it could actually be about experiencing, going through, or perhaps even: undergoing, just as you, as a listener, undergo music and dissolve the meaning into the experience.
