Workshops
Lichtbende offers various workshops for children where the possibilities of analogue projections are discovered. The small self-made figures are played with and enlarged with projectors.
They use various animation and visual techniques.
The workshops are adapted to the age and skills of the group.
Duration 1.5 hours, max. 25 children.





Magic lantern figures
4+ 6+ 8+
The children make their own magic lantern figures, which are presented to each other as a light image projection and played with at the end of the lesson.
The workshop will be adapted to the age and skill of the group.
Skills such as fine motor skills, technical insight into moving parts and material possibilities are developed.















Light-Lab
all ages
Shadow play and projection images with overhead projectors. A developing theatre research with a special visual and experimental character.
Using various assignments, new visual languages are introduced and explored through experimentation with different materials. Exercises visualize the interplay between the different projectors, creating a changing overall image.

Transparent shadow mask made of recycled plastic.

Children create with wire figures that are hung on a wheel. An installation with moving projection images.
Film strip

Children use a story to depict scenes on sheets. These are then mechanically guided through three magic lanterns, creating an animated film.

Make your own light lantern with shadow figures to project swirling scenes.

Modern shadow play in which children explore the possibilities of light and shadow play using overhead projectors and magic lanterns. A theatre research that develops while doing, with a special visual, experimental character and real attention to the role of the child as producer of culture. It is offered as a cultural education project for schools
