Lichtbende brings light to life with live animations. A fusion of visual art, music and theatre. Using old magic lanterns combined with live (new) music, Lichtbende has been creating light-art performances since 2010. Authentic and honest musical light theatre, made with great craftsmanship and love.
Stories without words, constructed from magical magic lantern images on a giant screen, so that it blends seamlessly with the music played live. You will see with your own eyes how the show is made, the artists themselves sitting and playing in front of the projection screen.
Lichtbende’s poetically associative performances are a fixture on renowned international stages around the world.
Harking back to the primal form of audiovisual media, Lichtbende inventively reveals the magic of the creation of light images. The magic lantern is the film projector avant la lettre, invented in 1659 by Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens.

STICHTING PROPROPRODUCTIONS was founded in 2006 to support, initiate and guide interdisciplinary art, theatre, music and art education projects.
