Me and the Flea
2017 – 50 min. – no language – all ages
‘Based on a true story of a dog who lived in our family for 18 happy years.’
“Me and the Flea”, is a bizarre and exciting slapstick about an endearing stray dog who is taken in by a loving family. What the family does not know is that there is a family of fleas hiding in his fur… a terrorising infestation for the whole household! The mood turns when the child of the family takes the dog to bed one night and wakes up in the morning full of red spots. What to do, get the dog out or fight the fleas? The house is thoroughly cleaned and the fleas are controlled in every way possible. But that doesn’t happen overnight. A tragicomic clash of worlds. A witty, slightly absurd story with a surprising ending.
The performance will be followed by a short demonstration where the children can ask all their “how-to-do-that” questions. In addition to workshops, Lichtbende has teaching materials available for schools.

Reviews
Boschonka, Poland 2018
“We could only recollect this extraordinary event whose form was comparable to the big festivals of “adult” culture. We will certainly not forget the “Me and the Fleas” performance, as most probably we will never ever be able to participate in such a show again.”
Piotr Guszkowski

“The essence of cinema in the simplest form. The performance which we can also watch from behind the scenes, as we observe the actors using various animation techniques and the live music played with the use of everyday objects, which further stimulates the imagination.”

Jan Stoel, senior advisor cultural education Bureau CiST (Culture in School Tilburg) 2018
“I have never experienced it in the 16 years I have been organising presentation days for secondary and primary education in Tilburg than the audience spontaneously stood up en masse to applaud after a performance. That means Ko met de Vlo was a special experience for them.“
