SEVEN NIGHTS 2017

A HIGHLIGHTED LIFE

Light-art-concert with organ, cello, soprano and projections of Lichtbende
Music: Sofia Gubaidulina and Henryk Górecki

SEVEN NIGHTS, an image concert with live created projections of magic lantern on a panoramic screen of 20 by 4 meters.

SEVEN NIGHTS zooms in on the course of life of a human being in seven dream nights. The nights are the domain of dreams, reflection, thoughts and processing of emotional events. From birth to motherhood you follow the emotional experience of an ageing human being, where reality slowly disappears in memories, thoughts, dreams and demons. When the body lets life go the eternal cycle starts all over again.

The music of Gubaidulina and Górecki (with organ, cello and soprano) expresses emotions that the show is seeking to invoke: expectations, doubt, desperation and reconciliation. The organ is an instrument that is perfectly suited to give sound to these feelings of outer worldly reality. It is a mighty instrument with a whole orchestra hiding inside. With song and cello the material human being is presented next to all the dream images of projections and shadow.

Seven Nights was commissioned by the ORGELPARK Amsterdam and first performed there in 2017,
January 26 at 20:15 pm and January 27 at 17:00 and 20:15
