Ring-Ring is a bicycle bell that
unfortunately gets separated from its frame. Lost but courageous, he
sets off for reunion. Fate leads him past enchanting landscapes but also
dangerous places full of strange creatures and unexpected encounters. An
endearing adventure full of joyful but also tricky moments. Whether his
quest will be rewarded remains exciting until the end.
Lichtbende has playfully based
Ring-Ring on Der Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner. But now in its
own unique way, full of eye-catching visual finds. The music of
Ring-Ring has been specially arranged for this performance and composed
for accordion, percussion and live electronics. Leading motifs from the
opera become as strange and surprising as the visuals in this story.
Due to the Corona restrictions,
Lichtbende has entered into an extraordinary collaboration with Hermark
Classical Suzhou and the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center, in which
Lichtbende has created a performance that will be performed in China by the
Shanhai Hapi Puppet Theatre. The entire performance, including the visual
material, technique, and music, were developed by Lichtbende. The
Chinese artists were instructed and guided online. A daring international collaboration, resulting in a unique
and authentic Lichtbende performance.
In 2024, Thomas Geerts arranged and recomposed the music for harmony and
fanfare orchestras so that Ring-RIng can be performed with local bands.
